Here at Voice of the Town, our choirs have had a BRILLIANT 2024 so far, after a fantastic year last year.
This year alone, we’ve performed at a variety of awesome festivals as well as public and private events. These have included events for Virgin Media O2 at the very cool Birmingham Library, Velux Windows at the stunning National Museum of Scotland (Edinburgh), for a festival at the magnificent Kelvingrove Bandstand (Glasgow), at the incredible Resorts World Arena (Birmingham) for the England Netball Grand Final.
We’ve also raised the roof at a host of brilliant festivals, including Gateshead Beer Festival, Newcastle Food & Drink Festival, Dinky Dub (Northumberland) and VW Festival (Leeds). If that weren’t enough, we’ve had the absolute pleasure of performing at numerous lovely weddings, bringing a surprise element for the guests and grooms alike to many of them (check out our Facebook and Instagram pages to see what unfolded!).
Furthermore, last year saw us perform on Mary Berry’s Highland Christmas, which aired before Christmas on BBC One (UK-wide) and even across the United States; while we ‘Launched Christmas’ live on BBC Radio in December. That followed a raft of shows that saw us perform on all 5 of England Rugby player Joe Marler’s UK live show tour dates, which included shows at the iconic London Palladium, Manchester’s Stoller Hall, St. George’s in Bristol as well as the Birmingham and Glasgow Glee Clubs. We also performed at countless festivals and venues, Scottish professional football club Motherwell FC’s ‘Player of the Year’ Awards, the UCI Cycling World Championships Opening Ceremony in Glasgow and the renowned Edinburgh Fringe for the fifth time!
Other opportunities over the past couple of years have seen our groups perform at everything from the Opening Ceremony of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, to our Glasgow choir performing live on BBC, ITV and Sky TV ahead of the Scotland vs Ukraine international football match at Hampden Park. On top of that, we’ve performed at loads more festivals, weddings, charity events, gig venues and live on BBC Radio drive-time to take listeners into the weekend.
AND, with a really exciting few months of great rehearsals and tons of shows ahead (check out our Events page!), including our own upcoming In The Mood shows, and with more dates to be added, we can’t wait to start our new terms from Monday, September 9th, onwards!
