Brilliant Performances From Our VOTT Glasgow & Edinburgh Choirs

Edinburgh's Voice of the Town Choir

What a fantastic past week it’s been for our Edinburgh and Glasgow vocal groups!

Edinburgh’s Voice of the Town choir produced an excellent performance for their first gig at Concert for Sick Kids, which was raising funds for The Royal Hospital of Sick Children via The Edinburgh Sick Kids Friends Foundation.  The group performed brilliantly on the same bill as Madaleine Pritchard, one of Scotland’s most in demand session vocalists as well as our VOTT Glasgow MD, Carrie Mac, who has supported the likes of Eliza Doolittle, Alexandra Burke and The Proclaimers, and a really fine young singer songwriter, Ryan Tyler, who stepped in to replace the ill Scott Cowie at the last minute.  It was a truly great night of music at the Edinburgh Minto Hotel, which were brilliant and come highly recommended by us, in their lovely function suite.  We can’t wait for the next performance!

And just a few days after the Edinburgh event, Glasgow’s Voice of the Town choir performed a knock out set at The Cottier Theatre in Glasgow’s West End as part of Movie Sounds for Shelter Scotland.  Accompanied by a terrific live band, the group performed a set straight from the movies, with songs including Let The River Run, Circle of Life, Who Wants To Live ForeverYou’re The Voice and Live And Let Die.  With X Factor contestant Melanie Masson performing a rocking set of movie classics, and River City‘s Tom Urie opening the show with a hilarious though highly skilled set of film songs (many taken as requests from the audience), it truly was a memorable evening.  And if that weren’t enough, we were delighted to have Voicejam, a children’s pop choir travel through from Falkirk to perform with us on a couple of numbers.  Proceeds are going to Shelter Scotland via Andy Haldane’s Breakfast In The Garden challenge, in which he has had breakfast outside in his garden every day for almost a year to highlight the plight of homeless people.  Huge credit goes to our Glasgow MD, Madaleine Pritchard, for putting this great show together!  Fantastic work.

So, watch this space for pictures and footage of these events being posted soon…
