Terms of Use
MEMBERSHIP FOR VOICE OF THE TOWN (herein referred to as ‘VOTT’)
The harmonies, concepts and resources used in VOTT are owned by VOTT. In taking part in any rehearsal, performance, workshop or event it is agreed that any use of resources, techniques and ideas will not be used, amended, copied or replicated at any other event, or to any group or in any venue.
The public sharing or external use of any VOTT resources (digital, audio or in print form), whether accessed via the Members Area or directly in rehearsals, via email, cloud sharing or by any other means, is strictly prohibited without consent by VOTT and if found to be used, legal action can be taken against the individual.
VOTT reserves the right to stop admission of any member who does not fulfil the requirements or who is deemed to be joining VOTT to abuse their membership to access the intellectual property or brand owned by VOTT.
VOTT rehearsals run in term time only for 12 weeks over 3 academic terms a year. VOTT reserves the right to alter the schedule of rehearsals to fit in with performances and other events that may be taking place or that are outwith the control of VOTT. No refunds will be given in these circumstances. If rehearsals are cancelled due to acts of God (weather etc) then VOTT will make best endeavours to provide alternative rehearsal time over the next two terms. No refunds will be given in these circumstances.
Membership of VOTT is on a term by term basis, with each member’s membership expiring at the end of each term. Membership of the entire duration, or part of, a term does not automatically qualify a member to take part in following terms, thereafter.
VOTT may from time to time provide additional facilities such as downloads, special rehearsals and shows. These are not part of the basic membership facilities and are provided solely at the discretion of VOTT. Those who do not have internet facilities may not be able to access some of these additional provisions.
VOTT will only proceed with a minimum sized group. If this minimum is not achieved, all members will be refunded the full amount they have paid.
There is no requirement to attend every rehearsal, however, in order to ensure confident and well-rehearsed performances, attendance from members of 75% is required to participate in performances.
MEMBERSHIP COSTS & REQUIREMENTS
Membership costs may vary each academic year and members will be notified of any change beforehand.
All membership fees must be received and processed before the start date of each term in order for a member to join successfully. If paying in two or three instalments, those instalment amounts must be received by the dates outlined in email correspondence relating to that particular term and at the beginning of the member’s membership.
By purchasing membership for a new term, and thus taking a place otherwise available to other prospective members who had requested to join at the beginning of that term, new and returning members are obliged to pay the full membership amount.
Should the member be unable to continue with the group following a first instalment payment, any remaining instalments must still be paid as per the payment details sent to the member at the beginning of their membership or term.
No Refunds for Membership Fee payments are able to be given once a member’s Members Area account has been activated.
In making an application, members are assumed to be medically fit to undertake the vocal and physical demands of VOTT. If an individual has any doubts, these should be indicated to VOTT prior to their application.
The director reserves the right to stop admission of any member who does not fulfil the requirements.
By joining, it is agreed that photographs and film footage may be taken of all the members and used for advertising and marketing purposes in relation to VOTT.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
VOTT is not responsible for damage to person or personal belongings whilst attending rehearsals and performances or before and after rehearsals and performances.
VOTT members are responsible for their own property and well-being whilst attending all rehearsals and performances.
Travel arrangements are to be made by each member to rehearsals and performances unless it is agreed otherwise.
CODE OF CONDUCT
VOTT aims to create a safe and positive environment for all its members. In order to do this, we must ensure acceptable standards of behaviour from our members.
All members should be punctual to rehearsals and adhere to times and set by VOTT.
All members should respond to the leadership of the director and VOTT staff.
Members should be co-operative with both staff and fellow members, and uphold an equal-opportunity environment. Any form of negative behaviour, whether written or verbal, towards others including VOTT members, VOTT leaders, and other VOTT personnel or to the rehearsal and performance environment/staff or audience will lead to cancellation of membership. In this case, membership payment will not be refunded.
Members should understand clearly that VOTT cannot be held financially responsible for damage caused by misconduct.
DATA PROTECTION ACT
Personal and private information held at VOTT head office will not be passed to external bodies or organisations unless agreed to by each member. Members will be contacted by post and/or email by VOTT only in any other circumstances.
AMENDMENTS
VOTT reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at anytime without notice.
