Happy New Year to all our VOTTers, supporters and followers! We hope you’ve had a fantastic festive period and are looking forward to what hopefully will be a very exciting and healthy 2014 for you all.
And if you’re intending on trying something new this year, why not get in touch about joining one of our groups in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Newcastle. Not only are our choirs fun, lively and really sociable, through our performances we’re fast establishing ourselves as one of the go-to vocal harmony groups across our various locations.
Indeed, we have recently lent our voices to the recording of a charity single, Here We Stand, for the Teenage Cancer Trust and which features Britain’s Got Talent 2011 winner Jai McDowall. You can hear the song, featuring VOTT Newcastle and co-produced/orchestrated by VOTT Founder & Group MD, Steve Morton, and view the music video by clicking here. And if by any chance Santa brought you a voucher for either of the following or you just plain enjoy the track, which we hope you will, you can download it from iTunes and Amazon in the knowledge that much needed funds are going to a truly fantastic cause. And… it’s a really nice song!
Furthermore, 2013 was a really exciting and packed year in which our groups received fantastic feedback for their performances. We had our Glasgow choir perform their first show in May at the East Kilbride Arts Centre, and since then, they have gone on to become a brilliant vocal group, with performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Tron Theatre as part of the critically acclaimed play The Events, for the Scottish Cot Death Trust, at the Cottier Theatre in Glasgow’s West End before finishing off the year with superb shows in George Square for Glasgow Loves Christmas and at the National Piping Centre in support of Shelter Scotland and Andy Haldane’s charity single, (All I Need Is) A Little Shelter.
We also saw the launch of our Edinburgh and Birmingham choirs towards the end of the year, and we’re delighted with the progress of the groups and the interest which is building among new members and clients for hiring the groups. As such, we’re really excited to see these groups perform their first shows over the coming months and will post details about these events soon.
During all of this, our Newcastle choir had the pleasure of performing a feature show at the iconic Sage Gateshead, in which we raised funds for the NSPCC, and then taking part in the Teenage Cancer Trust’s Christmas Concert, an evening which featured a host of celebrities from the world of music and television, and which also saw the group sing the charity single Here We Stand live for the time along with the lead vocalists Jai McDowall and Melissa Cavanagh.
So 2013 was an absolutely brilliant year for Voice of the Town and we can’t wait to see how 2014 develops and watch our groups grow from strength to strength even more! And to stay up to date with all things VOTT, why not ‘Like’ and ‘Follow’ us at our Facebook and Twitter pages.
